Whether your neighborhood is historic, well established, or just being developed, there are issues that will affect your quality of life and your enjoyment of your residence. Many of the established neighborhood associations have come together over a crisis: crime, zoning changes, non-compatible land uses, flooding, and may others. A map of existing neighborhood associations can be found here here. If you live in an existing neighborhood association, we can provide you with the contact information for your neighborhood leaders; just drop us a line!
If you don’t live in a member neighborhood association, you have one of two options: organize a new neighborhood association or join as an individual member.
If you are interested in starting a new neighborhood association, then it is important to start discussing the idea with other people who might want to be involved; the more people who want to be active, the more resources the neighborhood association will have. So look to your neighbors, sure, but also consider contacts with neighborhood schools, churches, scout groups, fraternal organizations, local businesses, cultural organizations, labor organizations, long-time residents, etc. Get together, talk about what you want to accomplish with your neighborhood associations, and if there’s enough interest, you may be well on your way to creating another vibrant neighborhood within WIN! Contact the WIN office for an informational binder on starting a neighborhood association. Neighborhood association membership dues for 2016 are $35.
If the idea of starting a new association is a little daunting, then consider becoming an individual member. Joining WIN as an individual is often a good choice for people who are apartment dwellers, students, and people who are brand new to the area, as it affords you the same benefits as the neighborhood associations receive. Individual membership dues for 2016 are $25.
The 2015 Membership Application can be downloaded here. If you would prefer, you can stop by the WIN office to pick up a paper copy of the application. For your convenience, annual dues may be paid via PayPal using the following:
Your paid up association dues qualify you to vote in the election of new Board Members and Officers at the next Annual Meeting in January 2016. If you are interested in running for the WIN Board, please note that you must be an individual member of WIN, regardless of whether you are already a member of a member neighborhood association. The prospective Board Member information sheet can be found here.
